Key Notes
- Revolut reported disruption across app access, payments, transfers and other services, while assuring customers their money and data were safe.
- Google said a London cloud power incident had been mitigated and services were recovering, with its provisional timetable separate from Revolut’s restoration status.
- Revolut’s UK status page listed 30 services as partially unavailable at 12:22 UTC, without establishing that every customer or transaction was affected.
Revolut suffered a widespread service disruption on Tuesday, leaving customers unable to access parts of its app or complete payments and transfers, while a separate incident at Google Cloud’s London infrastructure began recovering.
Revolut said customers’ money and data remained safe and that engineers had been working on a fix since the problem was identified that morning. The disruption affected everyday banking functions as well as some business and investment services.
The BBC reported that Revolut attributed its problems to a third-party issue. However, the detailed connection between its service failures and Google’s cloud incident had not been officially confirmed in the reporting available at publication.

App Access and Card Payments Are Affected
At 12:22 UTC, Revolut’s United Kingdom status page listed 30 services as partially unavailable. These included signing in, card payments, transfers, cash withdrawals, card top-ups and currency exchange.
The list also covered stock trading, cryptocurrency services, identity verification and live support chat. On the business side, account access, outgoing transfers, mobile and web apps, and merchant payment functions were among the services flagged.
A partial-unavailability notice means that a service is experiencing an incident; it does not establish that every transaction or every customer is affected. The UK page is also a country-specific snapshot, rather than a complete measurement of the disruption worldwide.
Google Reports Recovery After a London Power Incident
Google’s incident log says the cloud disruption began at 06:08 UTC on October 20. It identified a power event in the London region’s europe-west2-b zone, with some services elsewhere in the region experiencing elevated errors and intermittent network problems.
In an update published at 11:58 UTC, Google said the power problem had been mitigated and services were recovering. Engineers were prioritizing existing workloads, while customers might still be unable to create new ones.
Google tentatively expected existing workloads to recover by 13:00 UTC. That was a provisional infrastructure estimate, not confirmation that Revolut’s services would be fully available at that time.
The distinction matters for customers waiting to make a payment. Restoration of a cloud component and confirmation that a financial application is operating normally are separate milestones.
Reports Extend Beyond the United Kingdom
Euronews reported complaints from customers in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Japan and other countries. Users described declined card payments and error messages when attempting to open their accounts.
The BBC also reported problems involving Lloyds Banking Group services, while noting that a Lloyds spokesperson said its app was functioning normally and that some customers were having difficulty with certain online services.
These accounts indicate a broader disruption across digital services, but do not establish a single verified cause for every affected organization. Nor do customer complaints provide a reliable count of everyone unable to transact.
Money and Data Reassurance Is Separate From Access
In its public statement, Revolut apologized for the inconvenience and reassured customers about their funds and information. That is the company’s account of the incident, rather than an independent assessment of every system.
The immediate problem described by the status page is operational availability: whether customers can sign in, move money or use a card. An inability to complete those actions does not, by itself, show that a balance has disappeared or that personal information has been compromised.
Revolut had not supplied a confirmed full-restoration time in the updates checked for this article. The company’s live status page remains the direct source for changes to individual services.
A Growing Financial Platform Depends on Shared Infrastructure
Revolut announced a deeper Google partnership in September 2025, describing a multi-year agreement to support its global systems and expansion. That relationship provides relevant context, without establishing the precise failure path behind Tuesday’s problems.
Its product range has also widened. As we previously reported, Revolut introduced one-to-one conversions between dollars and selected stablecoins, connecting more financial activity to the same customer-facing platform.
The company said in an October 19 announcement that it had more than 80 million retail customers worldwide. That total describes its overall reach, not the number affected by this outage.
For a platform spanning payments, transfers and investments, recovery must be assessed service by service. The next decisive update is confirmation from Revolut that normal operations have resumed, alongside Google’s progress restoring the affected cloud systems.
