Key Notes

  • Polymarket has launched 15-minute gold and silver price contracts alongside a broader lineup of hourly and daily markets.
  • Chainlink supplies pricing for short-window contracts, while the daily gold listing uses a different resolution source.
  • Winning outcome shares pay $1, and trading remains subject to geographic restrictions on the international platform.

Polymarket has expanded its precious-metals offering with 15-minute gold and silver price markets, bringing its fast-moving prediction contracts beyond cryptocurrency. Traders can take positions on whether metal prices rise or fall, with hourly and daily listings also available across the platform’s broader lineup.

Chainlink announced the expanded partnership on October 29, naming its oracle infrastructure as the pricing backbone for Polymarket’s high-speed Up/Down markets. The announcement specifically confirmed that 15-minute gold and silver contracts were live.

The launch gives eligible users another way to trade short-term financial expectations. Access remains subject to local restrictions, and the contracts pay according to a defined outcome rather than giving buyers ownership of gold or silver.

Three Trading Windows for Precious Metals

Polymarket’s gold listings and silver listings illustrate the range of questions now available, from immediate price direction to daily closes and longer-term price thresholds.

  • 15-minute markets: Contracts track whether the reference price finishes up or down over a specified quarter-hour window.
  • Hourly markets: The same directional approach applies over an hour, with a separate opening reference and deadline.
  • Daily markets: Listings ask whether the metal closes higher or lower than on the previous trading day, under their own published rules.

The shorter timeframes create a succession of individual markets. Being right about the metal’s direction over an entire day does not ensure that a position covering a particular 15-minute interval will win.

Daily gold contracts were already listed before this announcement. The new development is the expansion of the high-speed format into precious metals, rather than the first appearance of any gold-related question on Polymarket.

How the Contracts Pay Out

The platform’s gold contract explains that winning outcome shares redeem for $1 each and losing shares are worth zero. Prices between zero and $1 represent the market’s implied probability of the specified outcome.

For example, a share bought for 60 cents would return $1 if it wins, producing a 40-cent gain before any applicable costs. If it loses, the 60-cent purchase price is lost. That illustration describes the contract’s payoff, not a forecast for gold.

The amount by which the metal moves does not determine the final payment. A small qualifying rise can produce the same winning payout as a much larger one. This makes the product a bet on a defined price outcome, with a different return profile from owning bullion or a metal-tracking fund.

For the sampled 15-minute gold contract, an ending price equal to or above its opening reference resolves to Up. A lower reading resolves to Down.

Chainlink Supplies the Short-Window Prices

The hourly gold listing identifies Chainlink’s XAU/USD data stream as its resolution source. A corresponding silver contract names the XAG/USD stream. Those references connect the blockchain-based contracts to external metal-price data.

Chainlink said the companies’ existing relationship had already supported more than $11 billion in trading volume across five- and 15-minute crypto markets. That is an accumulated activity figure for those crypto products, not revenue or trading volume in the new metals contracts.

The daily gold contract uses Pyth as its published resolution source. Different timeframes can therefore have different data providers and settlement conditions; the Chainlink partnership should not be read as replacing the rules of every precious-metals listing.

The expanded agreement also points toward more high-speed offerings across commodities, equities and foreign exchange. The announcement did not provide a complete launch timetable for those additional products.

The Launch Meets a Volatile Metals Market

The rollout arrives during a sharp reassessment of precious metals. As we reported earlier on Friday, gold fell back below $4,000 an ounce amid persistent inflation and expectations of further Federal Reserve tightening.

Silver futures subsequently broke below $50 for the first time since November 2025. Those moves put short-term price direction in focus just as Polymarket widened the ways users can express a view on it.

The relationship is one of market context, rather than established cause and effect. The launch does not demonstrate that prediction-market trading drove the metals selloff, nor does it establish how much liquidity the new contracts will attract.

International Access Still Has Limits

Polymarket’s access policy lists countries and regions where trading is restricted. An international rollout therefore does not make the contracts available without qualification to everyone worldwide.

The company also distinguishes its international blockchain-based platform from Polymarket US, a separate regulated exchange. A product listing on polymarket.com does not by itself establish identical availability or terms on the American venue.

For Polymarket, the commercial opportunity is to extend a familiar prediction-market format into widely followed financial assets. Whether the new metals markets develop sustained activity will depend on participation, liquidity and reliable settlement as the product range grows.
