Elon Musk’s X has expanded access to X Money to all Premium and Premium + subscribers with U.S. accounts, completing a broader rollout of the payment service after initially making it available to a limited group of users.

X Money announced the expanded availability through its official account, telling eligible subscribers they can access the service through the Money tab in the X sidebar. The announcement marks a significant expansion from the gradual rollout that began earlier this summer.

The payment platform represents a central part of Musk’s long-running ambition to transform X, formerly Twitter, from a social network into an “everything app” combining communication, content, payments and financial services.

X Money Moves Beyond Limited Rollout

X began rolling out X Money to U.S. Premium and Premium+ subscribers in July, but access was initially being expanded gradually rather than reaching every eligible account simultaneously. The latest announcement confirms that the service has now been opened to all qualifying U.S. subscribers.

X Money integrates several financial functions directly into the X ecosystem.

Users can send and receive peer-to-peer payments, manage funds and access a Visa debit card. The service also supports features including direct deposit, wire transfers and bill payments, reducing the need for users to leave X for everyday financial transactions.

The virtual X Card can also be added to Apple Wallet, while users can order a physical version of the card.

Musk’s Everything-App Strategy

Financial services have been part of Musk’s vision for X since shortly after his acquisition of Twitter.

Musk has repeatedly discussed transforming the platform into something resembling China’s WeChat, where messaging, payments, shopping and other digital services operate within a single ecosystem.

The strategy also brings Musk back to his early roots in financial technology. In 1999, he founded X.com as an online financial services company. The business later merged with another company and ultimately became part of PayPal.

More than two decades later, payments are once again becoming a central component of Musk’s X brand.

X Pushes Deeper Into Financial Services

Expanding X Money to the entire eligible U.S. Premium subscriber base gives X an opportunity to deepen its relationship with paying users while moving beyond its traditional dependence on advertising and subscriptions.

The service effectively places a financial account and payment network alongside X’s social and content features.

For Musk, the rollout represents another tangible step toward the broader vision he has promoted for years: turning X into a platform where users can communicate, consume information and manage increasingly large parts of their financial lives without leaving the application.
