The inaugural Revolut Lounge will open at Copenhagen Airport in 2027 and is expected to become the largest publicly accessible lounge in the Schengen Area. The project marks another step in Revolut’s strategy of building a broader financial and lifestyle ecosystem around its banking platform.
First Lounge Opens in Copenhagen
According to the company, Copenhagen was selected for the first location because of its position as one of Northern Europe’s busiest international travel hubs.
Rather than creating a traditional bank-branded waiting area, Revolut says it aims to build a premium lounge experience combining modern design, food and beverage services, workspaces, and relaxation areas for travelers.
The company described the project as an effort to create “something bold and beautiful,” signaling ambitions to compete with established premium airport lounge operators.
Partnership With Plaza Premium Group
To launch the project, Revolut has partnered with Plaza Premium Group, one of the world’s largest airport hospitality companies.
Plaza Premium operates hundreds of airport lounges across dozens of countries and has extensive experience managing premium travel facilities for both airlines and independent customers.
The partnership allows Revolut to expand into airport services without having to build operational expertise from scratch.
Part of a Broader Lifestyle Strategy
The airport lounge initiative reflects Revolut’s broader strategy of evolving beyond traditional banking.
Over the past several years, the company has expanded into stock trading, cryptocurrency, savings products, travel booking, insurance, and subscription services, positioning itself as a financial “super app.”
Adding branded airport lounges gives Revolut another premium service that could strengthen customer loyalty while attracting higher-value users willing to pay for travel-related benefits.
The move also places the company in more direct competition with premium banking products that already include airport lounge access as part of their membership packages.
More Locations Expected
Revolut has not yet announced which airports will follow Copenhagen or which categories of customers will receive lounge access.
The company also has not disclosed whether entry will be limited to premium subscribers or offered through additional payment options.
As fintech companies increasingly compete through lifestyle benefits rather than banking products alone, Revolut’s airport lounge strategy highlights how digital banks are expanding into services traditionally associated with airlines and premium credit card providers.
