Prediction market platform Kalshi is reportedly in advanced discussions to raise at least $750 million in a new funding round that would value the company at approximately $40 billion, reflecting extraordinary growth in both trading activity and revenue.

According to multiple reports, venture capital firm Sequoia and asset manager Wellington Management are expected to co-lead the financing round. If completed, the transaction would rank among the largest private fundraising rounds in the fintech sector this year.

The fundraising comes as Kalshi’s annualized revenue has reportedly exceeded $4 billion, roughly doubling from levels reported only two months ago as demand for event-based prediction markets continues to accelerate.

Revenue Growth Continues to Accelerate

Kalshi has experienced one of the fastest growth rates in financial technology.

According to Bloomberg, the company’s annualized revenue has already surpassed $4 billion, highlighting the rapid expansion of trading volumes across its prediction markets.

The platform allows users to trade contracts based on the outcomes of future events, ranging from elections and economic indicators to sports, weather, and financial markets.

Growing user activity has transformed Kalshi into one of the fastest-growing companies operating at the intersection of finance, trading, and technology.

Major Investors Back Expansion

The latest funding round is expected to attract several prominent institutional investors.

Reports indicate that Sequoia and Wellington Management could serve as co-lead investors, adding to Kalshi’s growing roster of high-profile backers.

A successful fundraising would provide additional capital to expand the platform, develop new products, strengthen regulatory capabilities, and support continued customer acquisition as competition within prediction markets intensifies.

Growth Comes With Rising Costs

Despite its rapid revenue expansion, Kalshi continues investing aggressively in growth.

The company has significantly increased spending on marketing and customer acquisition while expanding its operations across regulated U.S. markets.

At the same time, Kalshi could face additional regulatory and tax challenges. Several U.S. states are evaluating whether prediction market activity should be subject to state-level taxation, potentially increasing operating costs in some of the platform’s largest markets.

Management will likely need to balance continued expansion with improving long-term profitability as the business matures.

Prediction Markets Continue Going Mainstream

The proposed fundraising reflects growing investor confidence in prediction markets as an emerging financial asset class.

Once considered a niche segment, event-based trading platforms have attracted increasing interest from both retail and institutional participants seeking alternative ways to express views on politics, economics, sports, and financial events.

If completed at a $40 billion valuation, the financing would establish Kalshi among the world’s most valuable privately held fintech companies and reinforce investor expectations that prediction markets could become a much larger part of the global financial ecosystem.
