SoftBank plans to invest €45 billion in France over the next five years to develop large-scale artificial intelligence data centers and computing infrastructure. The commitment ranks among the largest AI-related investments announced in Europe as governments and technology companies race to expand capacity for next-generation AI systems.
The investment will support construction of advanced data centers designed to provide computing power for AI model training, cloud services, and enterprise applications. France has increasingly positioned itself as a key destination for AI infrastructure investment due to its energy resources, industrial base, and growing technology ecosystem.
Analysts said the project highlights intensifying global competition to secure AI computing capacity as demand for chips, energy, networking equipment, and data center infrastructure continues to accelerate across the technology sector.
