Cboe Global Markets has launched Cboe Predicts, a new prediction market platform designed to let investors trade on future market outcomes through regulated financial products. The launch marks the exchange’s official entry into the rapidly growing prediction markets sector.

The first products are linked to the Mini S&P 500 Index (XSP), allowing traders to take “yes” or “no” positions on where the index will close. Unlike traditional options, the contracts offer fixed payouts based on whether a specified outcome occurs.

Prediction Markets Go Mainstream

The move comes as prediction markets gain popularity among retail and institutional investors seeking simpler ways to express views on future events.

Cboe’s offering builds on its existing derivatives ecosystem and is positioned as a regulated alternative to prediction market platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket. The company has also developed structures that can provide partial payouts when predictions are close rather than strictly all-or-nothing outcomes.

The launch follows broader industry efforts to bring prediction-style products into traditional financial markets, with major brokerages and exchanges increasingly exploring the sector.

Expanding Beyond Traditional Trading

Cboe views prediction markets as a natural extension of its options business and has identified the segment as a strategic growth area alongside derivatives and tokenization initiatives.

Analysts note that prediction markets have evolved from niche products into a rapidly growing asset class attracting attention from exchanges, brokers, and fintech firms.

The broader takeaway is that Cboe’s launch of Cboe Predicts represents another step toward integrating prediction markets into mainstream finance as demand for event-based trading products continues to grow.
