Shares of Unitree Robotics surged more than 500% on their first day of trading in Shanghai, making the humanoid robot maker one of the biggest IPO winners of the year as investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and robotics continued to accelerate.

The stock opened at approximately 1,100 yuan, compared with its IPO price of 150.8 yuan, after the company raised about 6.1 billion yuan ($905 million) in its public offering. At its intraday peak, Unitree’s market capitalization briefly approached $50 billion, far exceeding its initial IPO valuation.

One of China’s Strongest IPO Debuts

Unitree’s debut became one of the most remarkable listings in recent years on Shanghai’s STAR Market.

The company priced its shares at 150.8 yuan, implying an initial valuation of roughly $9 billion. Within hours of trading, investors had pushed the stock to more than seven times its IPO price, creating tens of billions of dollars in additional market value.

The performance significantly exceeded already elevated expectations that had been reflected in offshore pre-IPO derivatives trading.

Record Retail Demand

Investor demand proved unprecedented.

According to reports, retail investors subscribed to the IPO more than 8,000 times, setting a new record for Shanghai’s technology-focused STAR Market.

The extraordinary level of oversubscription highlights the growing appetite among Chinese investors for companies positioned at the intersection of robotics and artificial intelligence.

Humanoid Robots Become Wall Street’s Next AI Theme

Unitree’s explosive debut reflects the growing belief that humanoid robots could become one of the next major beneficiaries of the global AI boom.

Advances in AI models, computer vision, motion control, and hardware have significantly improved the commercial potential of autonomous robots for manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and service industries.

As a result, investors are increasingly treating robotics companies as long-term AI infrastructure plays rather than traditional hardware manufacturers.

A New Benchmark for Robotics Valuations

The IPO establishes a new valuation benchmark for China’s rapidly growing humanoid robotics sector.

Several robotics companies are already exploring public listings, and Unitree’s successful debut is likely to strengthen investor interest in future offerings.

For now, the company’s first trading session demonstrates how aggressively markets are pricing businesses viewed as leaders in physical AI, reinforcing robotics as one of the fastest-growing investment themes within the broader artificial intelligence sector.
