SpaceX could be worth “orders of magnitude” more than today’s global economy, Musk said, without setting a timeline or a dollar target.

Elon Musk said SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) could eventually be worth “orders of magnitude more than the current Earth economy,” setting out a sweeping vision for the company’s future value. He posted the prediction on X on October 8.

Musk prefaced the statement by acknowledging that it would sound “super crazy.” He provided no dollar target, timetable or financial model, and did not define the measure he was using for the Earth’s economy. The post describes a possible future outcome, with the route to achieving that scale left unexplained.

He reinforced the space-focused context in a subsequent reply, writing: “Earth is a tiny dust mote in our solar system.” That follow-up added perspective on the ambition without identifying specific projects, revenue sources or investment requirements behind the valuation claim.

SpaceX’s existing operations span launch services, satellite connectivity and artificial intelligence. Its quarterly results reported $7.8 billion in revenue, up 92% from a year earlier, and a $541 million net loss for the three months ended June 30, 2026. Those disclosures provide a financial reference point for assessing the scale of its expansion plans.

The comment adds to a wider debate over SpaceX’s long-term value. Citi (NYSE: C) previously outlined a possible $12.2 trillion valuation, as we reported. That analyst scenario depended on commercial expansion following Starship’s orbital progress, with execution and profitability central to the outcome.
