Key Notes

  • Polymarket lists Anthropic’s ANT pre-IPO perpetual with up to 10x leverage on its round-the-clock Perps platform.
  • The derivative provides long or short price exposure without shares, voting rights or an IPO allocation.
  • Funding, trading fees and maintenance-margin requirements affect returns while Anthropic’s final IPO terms remain undecided.

Polymarket is offering round-the-clock perpetual futures tied to Anthropic, giving eligible traders leveraged exposure to the AI company ahead of its proposed stock-market debut. The platform lists the pre-IPO contract under ANT with leverage of up to 10x.

The product allows long and short positions without transferring ownership of Anthropic shares. It adds a way to trade expectations around the Claude developer’s valuation while the company’s Nasdaq IPO price, share count and final timetable remain undecided.

Polymarket’s pre-IPO page currently identifies Anthropic as the sole contract in that category. The listing confirms that ANT is live, although it does not establish when the individual contract first began trading.

ANT Provides Price Exposure Ahead of the Listing

A perpetual is a derivative with no scheduled expiration date. Traders take a position on changes in a reference price rather than buying equity from the company or an existing shareholder. A long position benefits from a rising contract price, while a short position benefits from a decline, before costs.

For a private company, that distinction is especially important. A pre-IPO reference price is not an executed Nasdaq share price, an issuer-approved valuation or a guaranteed indication of where the IPO will be priced. The ANT label does not make the contract an already-listed Anthropic share.

The contract page identifies pUSD as collateral and distinguishes an external reference price from the mark price used for profit-and-loss calculations and liquidations. Those trading mechanics matter independently of whether Anthropic’s eventual IPO attracts strong demand.

Leverage Magnifies Moves and Funding Affects Returns

At 10x leverage, an illustrative $100 of initial margin supports a $1,000 position. A 1% move in that position’s value would represent $10, or 10% of the initial margin, before trading fees and funding payments. The same relationship magnifies losses when the price moves against the position.

Polymarket’s margin rules distinguish the collateral needed to open a position from the maintenance threshold needed to keep it open. Liquidation begins when equity falls below maintenance margin. The advertised maximum also does not mean every position size can use 10x: larger positions are subject to lower leverage limits under the platform’s tier system.

Holding the contract also involves funding. The official funding documentation describes hourly settlement of payments between long and short positions, designed to help align the perpetual with its index. A positive rate means longs pay shorts; a negative rate reverses that direction.

Funding is separate from exchange trading fees and can change over time. Polymarket’s published fee schedule starts at 0.0400% for taker fills and 0.0125% for maker fills, with volume-based tiers and certain temporary beta-account arrangements. Fees are calculated on the trade’s notional value, rather than just the collateral deposited.

IPO Applications Follow a Different Route

The derivative arrives as Anthropic expands the distribution plans for its proposed IPO. A Japanese filing outlines an offering with an estimated ceiling of $3.5 billion, while Bloomberg has reported a planned UK retail channel through RetailBook.

As we reported, those arrangements concern applications for actual shares in the proposed Nasdaq offering. They do not guarantee allocations, and the Japanese ceiling includes institutional investors rather than representing a sum reserved entirely for retail buyers.

An ANT perpetual position provides no IPO allocation, voting rights or claim to Anthropic’s assets. Equally, the ability to trade around the clock does not mean Anthropic itself has begun public stock trading. The company is seeking a Nasdaq listing under the proposed ticker ANT.

The distinction comes against a rapidly changing financial backdrop. Anthropic’s November 2 filing amendment disclosed nearly $17 billion in third-quarter revenue, a $567 million operating loss and substantial multiyear computing commitments, as we reported earlier. Those disclosures help frame expectations but do not determine a derivative’s trading price or the final IPO terms.

Polymarket Builds Beyond Event Predictions

The contract sits within a broader expansion of Polymarket’s financial products. The company’s official September interview dates the launch of its Perps exchange to September 3 and describes a strategy of bringing stock, index, crypto and commodity trading into one platform. That exchange launch date should not be confused with a verified launch date for ANT.

Polymarket has also expanded short-window gold and silver prediction markets, as we previously reported. Those contracts resolve according to specified outcomes; perpetuals instead maintain ongoing leveraged price exposure. The two formats have different payoffs and trading mechanics.

Access remains jurisdiction-dependent. Polymarket’s international site says US persons cannot use it to trade and distinguishes the platform from its separate CFTC-regulated US prediction-market operation. ANT’s availability on the international site therefore does not establish that the contract is available to US retail investors.
