Nvidia is reportedly in talks to participate in a new funding round for Perplexity that would value the AI search startup at more than $30 billion, representing an increase of over 50% from its previous funding round a year ago. The discussions would deepen Nvidia’s financial ties with one of the fastest-growing companies in generative AI.
Perplexity’s annualized revenue has climbed from less than $250 million at the beginning of the year to more than $750 million, driven by strong adoption of its Perplexity Computer AI agent, which automates complex workplace tasks. The rapid revenue growth has helped justify the company’s higher valuation as enterprise demand for AI agents continues to accelerate.
The potential investment aligns with Nvidia’s broader strategy of backing leading AI companies that drive demand for advanced computing infrastructure. Beyond supplying GPUs, Nvidia has increasingly taken strategic equity stakes across the AI ecosystem, reinforcing its position at the center of the industry’s expansion. Perplexity has previously stated it intends to pursue an IPO by 2028.
