Anthropic is in talks to acquire Israeli AI startup Decart for approximately $6 billion, according to Bloomberg. If completed, the transaction would become the largest acquisition in Anthropic’s history and significantly strengthen its AI infrastructure capabilities ahead of a potential IPO.
Founded in 2023, Decart develops software that optimizes artificial intelligence models to run more efficiently across different chip architectures, helping reduce inference costs and improve performance. The company has also attracted attention for its real-time generative video technology, positioning it at the intersection of AI infrastructure and multimodal AI applications.
According to Bloomberg, negotiations are ongoing and no final agreement has been reached, meaning the deal could still be delayed or fall apart. Anthropic has not publicly commented on the reported discussions.
The acquisition would fit Anthropic’s broader strategy of expanding beyond foundation models into the underlying infrastructure required to train and deploy advanced AI systems. As competition with OpenAI, Google, xAI and Meta intensifies, leading AI companies are increasingly investing in proprietary infrastructure, optimization software, and compute technologies to lower costs and improve model performance.
Decart has raised hundreds of millions of dollars from investors including NVIDIA, Benchmark, Sequoia Capital, and Radical Ventures, becoming one of Israel’s fastest-growing AI startups. The reported acquisition price represents a substantial premium over the company’s most recent private valuation.
A successful acquisition would strengthen Anthropic’s position in one of the AI industry’s most competitive areas: optimizing increasingly expensive AI workloads. As model sizes continue to grow and demand for computing power accelerates, software that improves chip utilization and reduces infrastructure costs has become strategically valuable for frontier AI developers.
