Amazon Web Services introduced Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Payments in partnership with Coinbase and Stripe, enabling AI agents to execute autonomous digital payments during task execution. The infrastructure allows agents to conduct micropayments using stablecoins and independently pay for APIs, datasets, digital content, and AI services.

AWS said the system is designed to support a growing ecosystem of autonomous AI agents capable of purchasing access to MCP servers and interacting with other AI systems without direct human intervention. The platform represents a broader push toward agentic commerce, where AI tools manage transactions and operational workflows in real time.

Amazon said future applications could include AI agents booking hotels, purchasing tickets, and completing online shopping on behalf of users, signaling expanding commercial use cases for autonomous AI systems.
