Thousands of Oracle employees were caught in a new round of layoffs this week, with some workers reportedly discovering they had lost their jobs before receiving formal notification. Employees said corporate logins began failing around 4 a.m., followed by Slack access disappearing around 5 a.m. and termination emails arriving at approximately 6 a.m.
Some employees reportedly arrived at Oracle offices without checking their email, only to discover at the entrance that their access badges had already been disabled. Estimates circulating among employees suggest the broader cuts could affect thousands of workers, although Oracle has not disclosed an official figure for the latest round.
The reductions come as Oracle sharply increases spending on AI infrastructure and data centers. The company expects capital expenditures of as much as $95 billion in fiscal 2027, while simultaneously restructuring operations and reducing workforce costs.
