Amazon unveiled the next generation of its Proteus warehouse robot, introducing AI-powered plain-language controls that allow workers to interact with robotic systems using natural speech commands. The announcement is part of Amazon’s broader strategy to accelerate automation across its global fulfillment network.
The company also committed €10 billion to robotics and automation investments across Europe. The initiative includes expanded deployment of the STARK robotics platform and wider adoption of the Vulcan robotic system across 15 fulfillment sites by 2027. Amazon said the upgrades are designed to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and increase warehouse throughput.
Analysts said the investment highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence and robotics in logistics as major companies compete to automate supply chains and meet rising e-commerce demand. The move further strengthens Amazon’s position as one of the largest investors in industrial automation globally.
