Visa enables AI agents to make payments through its new platform, advancing autonomous digital commerce.

Visa launches Intelligent Commerce Connect, a platform that enables artificial intelligence agents to access its payments infrastructure and complete transactions on behalf of users. The system allows AI agents to search for products, make purchasing decisions, and execute payments within predefined user limits.

The platform is currently available to a limited group of partners, with a broader rollout expected by the end of 2026. The initiative marks a significant step toward autonomous commerce, where AI systems can handle end-to-end purchasing workflows without direct user interaction. Visa positions the offering as a way to streamline digital commerce and expand its role in emerging AI-driven ecosystems.

In parallel, Nevermined announces integration using a protocol developed by Coinbase, enabling users to link payment cards and define spending limits for AI agents. The setup allows automated transactions while maintaining user control over budgets and permissions.

Analysts say the development highlights the convergence of fintech and AI, with autonomous agents expected to reshape how consumers interact with digital marketplaces and payment systems.
