November has historically been one of the strongest months for the U.S. stock market. Since 1927, the S&P 500 has posted gains in 59% of Novembers, averaging a monthly return of about +1.01%. The Nasdaq 100 and Russell 2000 have performed even better, averaging +2.47% and +2.64% respectively.
In the first year of a U.S. presidential cycle, November has delivered positive results in roughly 67% of cases. Analysts note that when the S&P 500 enters November already up more than 15% for the year, it has historically added an additional +2.7% on average.
With the index near record highs, investors are watching closely to see whether the S&P 500 could reach the 7,000 mark this month a milestone that would underscore continued market optimism.
