The government of Kazakhstan, OpenAI, and Freedom Holding Corp. have signed a strategic agreement to provide some 165,000 educators with access to ChatGPT Edu, an AI-powered educational platform tailored for schools and universities. The initiative aims to integrate advanced AI assistants into curricula, enabling document analysis, customized tutoring, and seamless alignment with existing learning-management systems.
Under the partnership, Freedom Holding will fund the rollout, OpenAI will supply the technology with support in Kazakh and Russian languages, and Kazakhstan’s public agencies will coordinate implementation. Educators will use the platform via Kazakhstan’s national platform, facilitating large-scale AI adoption across the education sector.
Officials say the programme will make Kazakhstan one of the first countries globally to deploy generative-AI tools in education at this scale. The agreement aligns with the country’s broader ambition to become a regional AI and tech hub by modernizing its education system and future-proofing its workforce.
