Amazon plans to invest up to $50 billion to build advanced artificial intelligence infrastructure aimed at supporting U.S. government agencies, marking one of the largest public-sector AI commitments by a private company. The investment is expected to be led through Amazon Web Services and focus on high-performance computing, data centers, and secure cloud platforms tailored for federal use.

The initiative aligns with growing demand from defense, intelligence, and civilian agencies for large-scale AI capabilities, including data analysis, automation, and advanced modeling. Amazon has already secured multiple government cloud contracts and views AI as a core driver of long-term public-sector growth.

The move underscores intensifying competition among Big Tech firms to dominate government AI spending, as Washington increases reliance on domestic, secure infrastructure for critical technologies.
