Christine Pelosi, daughter of former U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, has announced her candidacy for a seat in the California State Senate representing San Francisco. The move signals a shift in the Pelosi political dynasty as Christine chooses statelevel office rather than seeking her mother’s soon-to-be vacant congressional seat.

At age 59, Pelosi brings decades of experience as a lawyer and Democratic Party operative but has never held elected office. Her campaign emphasizes consumer rights, women’s advocacy, support for immigrants and expanding housing and workforce opportunities in San Francisco and across California.

The announcement comes just days after Nancy Pelosi declared she will not seek re-election, opening her House seat. Christine is expected to leverage her mother’s extensive fundraising network and political influence, positioning her as an early frontrunner in the state legislative race.
