A new analysis of 65,000 URLs conducted by Graphite shows that AI-generated content now matches and is beginning to surpass human-written material across the internet. The study found that machine-produced text has rapidly expanded over the past year, driven by widespread adoption of generative AI tools in publishing, marketing, and automated SEO workflows.

Graphite’s researchers note that the volume of AI content is growing at a markedly faster rate than human-created material. The shift is attributed to lower production costs, faster output and the integration of AI writing systems into mainstream content platforms. For many publishers, AI is already responsible for the majority of new articles produced at scale.

Analysts warn that this transition may reshape online information ecosystems, raising questions about accuracy, originality and the long-term reliability of machine-generated text. Companies are expected to introduce new quality controls as the share of AI-generated content continues to rise.
