Walmart says it has entered a partnership with Google to integrate its shopping services directly into Google’s Gemini AI assistant, allowing users to browse products, build carts, and complete purchases within the chat interface.

The integration enables consumers to search for items using natural language, receive personalized recommendations, and check out without leaving Gemini. Walmart says the move is designed to reduce friction in online shopping and capture demand earlier in the customer journey, as generative AI becomes a primary discovery tool.

For Google, the partnership strengthens Gemini’s role as a commerce-enabled AI platform, while Walmart gains access to a large user base already embedded in Google’s ecosystem. The deal highlights how retailers are racing to secure distribution inside AI assistants as digital shopping habits evolve.
