Nvidia has grown to represent 8.5% of the entire S&P 500 index, underscoring its dominant position in global equity markets. The company’s market capitalization has reached about $5.1 trillion – larger than the combined value of the 240 smallest firms in the index and surpassing the total stock market capitalizations of Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and the UAE.
With this valuation, Nvidia is now larger than six of the S&P 500’s eleven sectors and ranks as the world’s sixth-largest market by value, behind only the United States, China, Japan, Germany, and India.
Analysts say the chipmaker’s unprecedented scale highlights both investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence and growing concentration risks in passive portfolios, as Nvidia’s stock movements increasingly influence overall market performance.
