A man in South Korea unexpectedly made a profit after selling the “LG” logo removed from his old air conditioner for 700,000 KRW (around $500 USD). What initially looked like ordinary yellowed plastic lettering turned out to be something far more valuable.

Buyers later confirmed that the logo was made of real gold, used in a limited production batch of LG air conditioners manufactured roughly 20 years ago. According to collectors, only around 10,000 units from that series were produced with gold branding, making the parts highly sought after today.

Following the discovery, interest in vintage LG air conditioners from that specific batch has surged. Enthusiasts and resellers are now actively searching for old units, hoping to uncover similar hidden value. What began as a routine resale has turned into a small but growing collectibles frenzy.
