Google LLC’s parent, Alphabet Inc., announced that its planned $32 billion acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz Inc. has received clearance from the U.S. United States Department of Justice following an antitrust review. The mega-deal, which would mark Alphabet’s largest acquisition to date, aims to integrate Wiz into Google Cloud’s suite of security tools.
The transaction, initially proposed in March 2025, will bolster Google Cloud’s cybersecurity capabilities – particularly in threat detection for multicloud environments and enhance its competitive position against rivals such as Microsoft Corporation and Amazon.com, Inc.. Although the DOJ has approved U.S. regulatory concerns, the deal still awaits sign-off in other jurisdictions and is expected to close in 2026 under customary conditions.
Industry observers view the development as a significant win for both companies: Wiz gains scale and strategic backing, while Alphabet solidifies its pivot toward cloud services and enterprise infrastructure. The clearance also sets a precedent for large tech acquisitions in the cybersecurity arena amid increased regulatory scrutiny.
